ABOUT KERALA STATE



Kerala (Keralam) was formed on 1 November 1956 as a state in India. In Kerala people speaking  Malayalam. Malayalam the official language of the state.The capital of Kerala state Thiruvananthapuram.It spread over 38,863 km2 .Kerla's bordered by Karnataka,Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep Sea. Kerala state is divided into 14 revenue districts: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam,
Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanadu, Kannur and Kasaragod. 

Districts

The 14 districts are further divided into 75 Taluks. There are 14 District Panchayats, 152 Block Panchayats, 941 Grama Panchayats, 87 Municipalities, 6 Corporations and 1 Township.

Literacy & Culture

Kerala has the the highest literacy rate, 93.91% in the 2011 census. Hinduism is practiced by more than half of the population, followed by Islam and Christianity. The culture is a synthesis of Aryan, Dravidian, Arab, European cultures.
